Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Is Here, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voice Cast

The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.

The follow-up to the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the galaxy. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.

A Space-Faring Quest Inspired by Beloved Titles

Similar to the Wii-era games that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. On his epic voyage, he will encounter once more some well-known personalities, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will face a fresh enemy in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to additional popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Returns and Expands

The movie will feature once again of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.

A Big Year for Mario

The upcoming Mario film is set to release around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo confirmed three new games publicly declared for that year, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Premiere Date Announced

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is scheduled to hit theaters on April 3, 2026.
